The Heimat-Museum is located in the school house built in 1848/49 on the periphery of the historic town centre and houses a collection on geology, prehistory and early history in the Herrstein region. A functional bakehouse is also incorporated within the building. Photos, maps, documents and objects in other rooms illustrate the history of Herrstein and the surrounding area. The museum also displays aspects of economic and social history with a display on individual craft professions, including brewers, tobacco spinners, weavers and tanners.
