The Marksburg is the only originally maintained, medieval 'Ritterburg' (knight's castle), and as such it gives a real sense of life in a castle. Different rooms show everyday life (castle kitchen) as well as weapons and arms of the castles and the knights, etc. The Marksburg is the seat of the Deutsche Burgenvereinigung (German castles association) with a corresponding research facility and comprehensive information on the topic of "The castle in the Middle Ages".
